I'm struggling with the inadequacies of Acrobat.
I'll try to keep this short. I use (Or should I say have used) Acrobat to layout storyboards. I also use it to lay about project details of all sorts. A pdf is a great format to share to clients to review work, but it needs help (always has) it's 2023, there is no longer an excuse Adobe.
- Merging text boxes is a big problem, it doubles and triples the time it takes to implement client changes which is the whole point of the practice. Fix it. It should never happen, ever. If I make a 2nd or 3rd or 300th text box, it's intentional, don’t make assumptions about what I want and change my document, ever. It's a damn nightmare.
- Formatting of text boxes... this is clearly a bug. After Acrobat takes it upon itself merge my text boxes without my approval, they can't be edited practically. Huge spaces appear between blocks of copy that are impossible to remove... it's like you set the leading to 1000px or something. Please pull in some of your brilliant developers from InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop and teach your Acrobat team about how to handle fonts, you know simple things that have been standards for 40 years or more, like Leading, Kerning and Tracking to name a few! Please catch up to the rest of the world.
- Adding lines and shapes... Really? I have to go to "commenting" to do design? Come on. Simple design tools like lines and shapes work betting in word processing programs than they do in Acrobat, that's gotta be a little embarrassing.
- The ability to drag between pages... allow for the moving of elements between pages, seems pretty basic.
- Adding blank pages... really? One at a time? Silly.
- Copy and paste controls... Ok I'm cool with copy and past landing. in the same location your copy it from, from page to page... but a "paste here" would be nice.
- Active page, a blue outline (1px) around active pages would also be nice, I hate that the page has to jump to have the active page fill the screen, just allow for the scroll to be wherever you want it and have a little outline signifying what page is active, it can be mirrored in the side panel as well, easy peasy.
Anyway, Acrobt as a simple layout program is good, but it's also bad... it needs to be a lot better. For now though, I'm done, I’ll be laying my storyboards out in Illustrator. Or Google Docs, that’s a good one for sure.
Frustrated.
Oh and perhaps a spell checker here in the Discussions... just a thought 🤦🏻♂️

Hi there
Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.
Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.
What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 23.08.20470 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.
Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.
Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://adobe.ly/49bPNrl and check
