Adobe Acrobat Professional v8.x (up-to-date w/all patches)

Generated under Windows XP SP3 on an Active Directory Domain.

See attached graphic.

This happens ONLY in the User's account.  Thus removing Acobat and reinstalling as well as a Repair Installation do not help.

If I logon to the end user's PC, Acrobat excutes properly.  No errors.

When the end user logs on and tries Acrobat, she gets the attached error.

The ONLY way I have been able to deal with this to date is to force the creation of a new WinXP User profile.  This is a PITA process that I want to avoid.

@MichaelKazlow

This thread is in the Adobe Forums    I don't understand why you insist it is not.  If you are trying to state I should provide feedback, I have NOTHING but harsh words so I won't.

{  And the forum is pretty bloody bad, I want Usenet access back !  }

BTW: Michael, I'ts "Lipman

@David Lipman

Has your solution provided a consistent fix to this issue? We don't use the Smart Card feature in my organization, but I have seen this error here in the past. I'll at least consider using your troubleshooting process when I see it again here.

@sprale1

Similar problem with Acrobat 10 running under Windows 7 Ultimate. Adobe's support team took a long time and ended up making the problem worse. Running system restore I was able to get back to the original problem without the new one.

I've tried the tek forum without a good result yet. I will try acrobat.com.

Have you disabled the startup entry for the Adobe AAM Updater (AdobeAAMUpdater-1.0) Or the corresponding scheduled tasks?
