Thumbnail PDF file preview not showing up, even when enabled

Hello everyone. I had acrobat version 2023.006.20380 64-BIT downloaded, and last weekend (January 13-14, 2024), the thumbnail pdf preview stopped working. Now it just shows the Adobe PDF icon. I uninstalled that version, and I installed Acrobat version 2023.008.20470 64-bit (latest version) on our AMD Ryzen 3 4300G 3.8 GHz processor, shutdown computer, started it up, and it still isn't working.

I have thumbnail preview enabled under the general tab (as instructions state), and It was working just fine, but over the weekend I came back to work and it had stopped showing the thumbnails. Any help would be greatly appreciated! It is very helpful because we have to download a lot of different files to our desktop, so it's nice having the visual thumbnail to be more efficient with organizing and printing. Thanks Adam

Hi @Samantha333515273mur

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

As you have updated the application to the latest version 23.08.20470, please restart the computer once and see if that works.

Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://adobe.ly/3tUuOuh

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.

So I just set up a new user profile, and the thumbnails show up under that profile. So something on our main profile is making it not work. If their is an answer to fixing it on our original user account, I would love to know, so I don't have to transfer all our passwords, etc. for all our online accounts etc to this new user. Thanks Adam

You must revert to the Classic UI: https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/acrobat-2023-how-to-revert-to-classic-gui-user-in...
Consider the "new Acrobat" as a beta version, many features are still missing or half-implemented.

Thanks JR, we are using the Classic UI, and it's the thumbnails are still not showing. Only thing that has worked is starting a completely new user profile, which I would like to avoid. I'll report back here if anything new is resolved. Adam

So,  the general opinion is:  It's BROKEN, and it can't be fixed by the PAYING users.   Is that correct ?

No but it works when it wants to, it's random.

Since I settled Foxit Reader as the app to manage PDF thumbnails on my Windows I no longer have any issues.
