Tick boxes not displaying correctly or missing ticks printing a document to PDF

Hi
I am trying to print a survey to PDFs but the tick boxes aren't displaying correctly and boxes that should be ticked are missing the tick. I've tried multiple print to PDF programs and all give the same problem when viewing the PDF but my colleague has no issue and I can view his PDFs correctly.
This makes me think it is something related to the embedded font that is pulled in when the PDF is generated on my computer, the font subset lacks the tick boxes so it can't display a ticked box. When it is generated on my colleagues computer the font subset has the correct tick box image so can generate the tick box correctly in the PDF.
In the attached image, the tick boxes on the left are from the file generated on my computer and on the right, boxes generated on another machine but still viewed on my computer.
I've got Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2021.005.20048 and am on Windows 10

How does you create the PDF file?

Its created by printing to PDF, so File>Print>Print using Microsoft Print to PDF

Looks like a Microsoft issue.
