Good day community,
Please can someone assist.
We have two work station with seperate licenses and we get this problem on both computers.
When you customize Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 32bit tool panel, the tool panel stays customised only for short while then goes back to default. I cannot wrap my head around this and it is driving me crazy having to set it up every day; some times more than once.

Mine also keeps resetting, sometimes almost daily. All we need is a button that lets us "lock" our customization. Would that really be so hard to do?
I have five tools that I use the most, one of which is Prepare Form, and is constantly dropped when I lose my customization. Please fix the issue!

Hi Eve,
So sorry to hear that the issue persists.
To investigate this further, please share the following details with us.
1- Screenshot of the current version of Acrobat DC. Open Acrobat>help>About Acrobat DC
2- Also, please collect the Adobe CC logs https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-log-collector.html and share them via document cloud as explained here https://helpx.adobe.com/document-cloud/help/sharing-pdfs.html

Also, it won't let me share the file in any other way than to provide you with the file name. Adobe can't open the file at all, and when I try to attach the file to my reply, it says that type of file extension can't be attached.

Same issue here. Between the crashing and constant resetting of the tools, I'm wondering why I'm even wasting my money anymore. Especially with these generic answers I see from Adobe Support. Bad enough everytime I try to send the error report after it crashes, I receive no response or a response that tells me they have no solution, but to see it typed in by a person on the forum is extremely disappointing with what we pay to have it. Get your act together Adobe. Fix the problems please.

Same here. Same issue as everyone else has posted. Adobe, don't ask me to post computer info or logs. Doesn't look like you are using them for anything anyway except a delay tactic in fixing a big error you have in your software.

Totally agree! Newer user here and having same problem in 2023. Really, Adobe?

Same issue with side panel tools resetting to apparently "defaults" (but even the defaults shown by OP would be better than the nonsense handful they usually leave me with!). It started happening a few years ago, but at first it was just every few months so I wasn't too bothered - figured it was tied to updates. But in the last few months it's increased in frequency to at least once a week, sometimes more (though I don't think it's happend 2x in 1 day as some report.) As others have said, it seems entirely sporadic. And we have other users within our organization that it happens to occasionally, but they all seem to still be more in the "every few months" category - and it's rarely at the same time as others. So we don't think it's on our end, or we'd all be affected the same way.
It does not seem to impact my "Quick Tools" along the top, as some others have reported. It's only the right side "Tools".
Adobe, if you can't replicate (which is absurd b/c this isn't new) &/or stop it from happening, can you at least figure out how to add a setting or a button to lock our Tools in the order we want? Or let us save "customized workspaces" like in AI or PS? That's all we really need to solve this - can't you apply that same logic to this area of programming?

Same here too! The most annoying thing is (as i don't personalize too much) is the welcome screen / tour every time.
For me is EVERY TIME i close the app. Acrobat has becaming more slow and heavy, in the last years and now... this. Whats going on Adobe?

Agree with adding the option to save out a customised workspace just like AI/PS. The tools (including Quick Tools) reset to default happens to me about once a week and I'm finding it as frustrating as the other commentors.
Please look in to this, Adobe!

I am still having this issue. It's been going on for years and driving me nuts. I keep thinking "it will get fixed at next update" . Now I am starting to think that at every update Adobe resets the toolbar to THEIR prefs. Products that are supposed to increase efficiency but actually end up taking time add needlessly to everyone's frustration level. Not sure why this can't get fixed.

In an ironic twist, (that might backfire on me for posting this!) my tools have not actually reset themselves since I posted my complaint 5 months ago. Likely just a weird coinsidence, but it seemed worth mentioning.

Same issue. Multiple machines, multiple versions of windows, many, many different versions of Acrobat.
It seems the only environment this actually works in is the one they use for the test environment. Perhaps they could post the details of the test machine setup and we could all move to that...

My office is also having this issue. We are working on a Windows 10 Virtual Desktop running Adobe Acrobat Pro ver 2022.003.20314. I've had multiple employees complain about this same issue happening to them and it also happens to me. It seems that we are having to change our tools panel on a daily basis which is extremely annoying. Please fix this issue.

HOW DO WE MAKE THIS STOP HAPPENING?!? (It just happened again.)

As if resetting to default wasn't annoying enough, now the toolbar keeps changing to random shortcuts. Ones that were always available even when it reset now disappear and the order of the shortcuts keeps changing as well. This is really getting annoyingly frustrating!

I noticed that after clicking "choose why you wanna use acrobat?" button while re-installing and choose document editing, all tools switch to documentation tools. Before that everything was just fine.

I had this problem 2-3 years ago. But the last year has been the most frequent and it also really pisses me off. The interface of the entire Adobe portfolio is so inconsistent that it's laughable, a company that makes graphic tools itself and has such a bad design of its applications - that's another discussion 🙂 As many of you write, it happens across versions, of the system, it's impossible to detect when the entire panel is reset if necessary. Sometimes it resets in a week, sometimes it lasts three months. If only the opening of the editing panel was not so insanely slow.. Oh yeah, where is the end of Acrobat 9 and 10..
Can't ADOBE at least add an option like in other apps to save your own desktop (panel presets).?

March 2023 and I am still having this issue as well. I've given up even trying to customize my tools panel since it defaults back within the day. This has been happening for at least two years and still it hasn't been fixed??

Hi, I may have come up with temporary solutions.
The "com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist" file appears to contain information about preferences and panel settings. It is stored in "/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist". I took this file from my other computer where I still had the panel as I needed and replaced it in the other computer. After rebooting I had my panel back. So I have saved this file and when the panel is reset again, I will replace it again - that's the idea.
Important notice!
I saved the original file to another location before overwriting it with the new one.
Both my computers had the same version of macOS and CC.
I don't know if it is also applicable for Windows users.
This has worked for me so far, any changes you make are your own responsibility.

I have had the same problem ever since the tool sidebar was introduced. I added my Pitstop Edit tools and Measurement tools this morning just to see how long it takes to reset. I figured that it resets when Acrobat crashes but I can't be sure. I use this software all day every week so crashes happen. My toolbar up top is fine though...

Same problem here, running Acrobat vers. 2022.003.20322 on Windows 10 vers 21H2 (OS Build 19044.2604) but certainly not unique to this version combo. Incredibly frustrating to lose my customized tool menu all the time!

It's a bit of a joke that nearly 2 years since the original post, nothing has been done.
Like many of you, I have exactly the same problem with no concrete answer in sight.
The Adobe response may as well be "Have you tried turning it off and on again?"
