TRANSITION_INSTALL_MODE command line option

Community Beginner ,
Jan 23, 2024 Jan 23, 2024

Hello,

I saw that the command line option TRANSITION_INSTALL_MODE=3 is mentioned on the “64-bit Unified App Installer” page but I was not able to find what the value “3” means.

Is there a webpage that describes what are the options behind TRANSITION_INSTALL_MODE?

Thanks for the reply but TRANSITION_INSTALL_MODE is not mentioned there. The command is brought up on this page but the values are not explained:
https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/DesktopDeployment/singleinstaller.html
I intend to use the "64-bit Unified App Installer" to upgrade around 30000 computers so I really need to know what the values mean.

Is it really possible that not even Adobe knows what are the options for TRANSITION_INSTALL_MODE?

Hi,

I have read these pages already and none of these links have ANY information about TRANSITION_INSTALL_MODE. Just look at the example command line from this link: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/DesktopDeployment/singleinstaller.html
"Setup.exe /sAll /slf /re /msi DISABLE_FIU_CHECK=1 TRANSITION_INSTALL_MODE=3"

What does the number 3 mean in "TRANSITION_INSTALL_MODE=3?" What are the other possible values ad what do they do?

Toomas

Unfortunately I got no useful reply from Adobe about this topic and I just used TRANSITION_INSTALL_MODE=3 without really knowing what it does. I am also very surprised that a company like Adobe doesn't provide basically any  information about this.

Did you find any good links that explain these switches?  CGPT states.....

MSI Parameters

  1. DISABLE_FIU_CHECK=1

    • Purpose: Disables the File in Use (FIU) check during installation.
    • Effect: Allows installation to proceed even if Acrobat-related files are in use by another application. This is useful in environments where closing all apps is not feasible.
  2. TRANSITION_INSTALL_MODE=3

    • Purpose: Defines the installation mode for transitioning between different product tracks (e.g., Continuous to Classic).

    • Effect: Specifically:

      • 1: Installs the Continuous Track.
      • 2: Installs the Classic Track.
      • 3: Transitions from Continuous Track to Classic Track (or vice versa).
    • Use Case: When moving between the Continuous and Classic Tracks, this setting ensures the correct track configuration is applied.
