Hi,

I am dealing with a legal PDF document that has an embedded mp3 audio file. It's a court recording. I'm following all the instructions but when I click to download, it comes up as a weird .txt file instead of the mp3. Other colleagues have not had this problem so I know the mp3 is there. I've tried several times to no avail so I'm reaching out to the community to see if any of you can help. Appreciate any assistance.

Thanks!

Hello Steve,

I hope you are doing well. Per the description, I understand you want to download an mp3 file from a PDF.

Could you please let me know:

1. The operating system you are using and its version;

2. The application version of Acrobat you are using.

You may try the below steps and check if it works:

Windows

1) Open the PDF and select "trust once."

2) Click the annot, so the audio begins to play.
3) In the Windows Start Menu, choose Run, and enter %temp%
4) In the folder that opens, sort by descending date. The most recent file will be your MP3, with a semi-random filename (it may be the name of the PDF, but it depends on how you made it).
5) Copy the MP3 into another folder, then close the PDF.

macOS

1) Open the PDF and select "trust once."
2) Click the annot, so the audio begins to play.
3) In the From the Terminal application, type the following command string: open $TMPDIR
4) In the folder that opens, sort by descending date. The most recent file will be your MP3, with a semi-random filename (it may be the name of the PDF, but it depends on how you made it).
5) Copy the MP3 into another folder, then close the PDF.

Let me know if the steps help.

Thanks,

Souvik.
