Unable to Edit Line Thickness and Line Style in Text Field Properties

I am unable to edit line thickness and line style in the text field properties. I found a thread (text field properties will not allow me to add a border ) saying that this is a known bug, and I'm wondering how long it will be before there is a fix? Or, does anyone have a suggestion for a work around? Maybe I can create a text box over the top? My goal is to make those form boxes visable for those viewing my form in acrobat reader.

It appears as if this issue remains in the latest build, in other words, when I add a new text field to a form, I am unable to change the colour 'none' to any other colour for Border and Fill Colours.

There's one possible work-around I can think of (I've not tested it, so not sure if it will work):

  1. Do you have a form created that DOES have text fields with border settings as needed?
  2. Open that form in Acrobat. Does the field still have the border around it?
  3. Click Prepare Form) and select the text field with the border, and copy and paste it into the document you are working on.
  4. Preview the text field in the new document. Does it retain the border from the other field?  (I'm hoping it does?)
  5. If it does (got my fingers crossed), right click the field and choose Use Current Properties as New Defaults.
  6. Next create a new text field in the form... does it have the border on it now?

I have no idea if this will work, but it's really all I can think of at this stage...
