I successfully installed Acrobat 7.0 to new laptop (op sys: Win 10)

Several symptoms below:

--It crashes often for no apparent reason

--It will not let me update; it finds update needed to be Acrobat 7.1.0 Pro, but does nothing when I select to run update and it will not let me remove it from update list either

--I ran repair function in help menu and it says it completed successfully, however, it ends with a error 20225 message about "unable to create a new item: Adobe PDF Port & Printer.  The Adobe printer may be unavailable".

Serial number registered on June 20, 2006.  I can provide serial number as needed.

How do I resolve these issues?

I can be contacted via phone#512-588-3237 or email, wilsdad@austin.rr.com

Thanks.

Respectfully,

Jack E. Burns II

To be quite specific, versions of Acrobat prior to 8.1 absolutely will not fully and properly install or work on any version of Windows beyond Windows XP or on any 64-bit version of Windows. This is due to changes in Windows' driver architecture and/or the differences required to support 64-bit versions of Windows.

At this point you will need to license Acrobat DC Pro for Windows 10 support.

Hi Wilsdad,

I am afraid, the application version you have mentioned above is a very old version and we have no support or patches available for it.

Also, this has not been tested on the OS you are referring to and so it may or may not work.

Please let me know if you need any other help.

Regards,

Supriya

I tried this and the pop up window states- The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgrade exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch. Any ideas as to my next step?

The problem is permissions to the activeX folder.  The 7.1.0 upgrade works if you do

C:\Windows\system32>takeown /f "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\ActiveX" /a

And then go to properties and grant permissions to write the folder
