Unable to view comments or unable to scroll when Comment pane is open in Acrobat Pro

I am having two distinct but related (I think) problems with the Comment pane in the latest Pro update. First, on some documents I cannot get any comment in the document to appear in the Comment pane (attachment 1). Second, when the list of comments is visible in the Comment pane (attachment 2), I cannot scroll to see the rest of the page on the right-hand side (i.e., the part obscured by the Comment pane). I have had my IT department unintall and reinstall the program, but the problem persists. I cannot work effectively with these problems.

Info:

Adobe Acrobat Pro 2023.003.20215 64-bit

PDF version: 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x)

OS: Windows 10 Enterprise

Please help!

Hi @Corey30755004vb2p

Sorry to hear about the trouble caused.

Your current Acrobat version shows that you have the latest patch installed. Would like to check a couple of things to see if that makes a difference here:

Is this Acrobat's new UI? To check whether it is or not. If you see a hamburger icon at the upper left corner of the screen, then click on it and > Disable New Acrobat.

If you are experiencing this issue only with a specific document while commenting, then,

Navigate to Acrobat>Edit>Preferences>Security (Enhanced)>disable "Protected View" and "Enhanced Security">OK>close and reopen Acrobat and check back.

Note: these changes are only for testing purposes. Once tested, please change it back to the previous setting.

Let us know the result.

Thanks,

Akanchha

Thanks Akanchha,

It is NOT the new UI, and I am experiencing this problem with every PDF file (I just opened a dozen), not just one. I tried following your steps, but the problem persists. If the document opens with comments visible, then I can't scroll to see the rest of the page. However, when I close the Comment tool and repoen it, the list of comments disappears entirely and I once again am faced with a blank Comment pane.

Can you share the sample file with us? We'd like to test the same at our end.

Also, if you could share a screen recording of your exact workflow, as explained above, then it would be helpful for us to understand the behavior of the app.

Hi,

I have made a screen recording of a sample file: when it is opened, the two comments cannot be seen, no matter how many times I attempt to close and open the Comment pane. Also, some of the right-hand column of text cannot be viewed (no scrolling possible). I have made a screen capture video but don't know how to compress it to 47 MB; I'll work on that.

Hello,

I'm still having the same issues today (July 5): do you have any other ideas on how to solve the problems indicated? I'm having to tell my supervisors that I can't do half of my job, which is a huge problem!
