I need to use an uncertified plugin and even though the 'use only certified plug-ins' is unchecked - it still says it is in certified mode and the usual set/exit, unset/exit doesn't change it. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Thank you for reaching out.
The message “Currently in Certified Mode: Yes (Always)” under Preferences > General > Application Startup indicates that Adobe Acrobat is running in Certified Mode. In this mode, only Adobe-certified and trusted plug-ins are loaded when the application starts. This is a standard security feature designed to enhance stability and protect against unverified or potentially harmful plug-ins.
This setting is enabled by default and is recommended, especially in environments where document integrity and security are critical.
No changes are necessary if you are not developing plug-ins or troubleshooting plug-in-related issues. Acrobat will continue to function fully while maintaining a secure and trusted environment.
For more details on Certified Mode, refer to our official documentation: https://adobe.ly/3TrI6Y5
