Updates and other things that should give warning

New Here ,
Dec 12, 2024 Dec 12, 2024

Things such as updates and the like by default should come with a request to continue or install later. I am not sure if this was an opt-in feature that i cannot remember etc, but  I have spent several minutes looking at this while a room of  clients waited for me to "quickly export and distribute the document".  Honestly, a popup asking if you would like to install the update now would have been very VERY handy today. I am providing this feedback in good faith and not as a whinge. I hope it is of some value.

Acrobat is installed with auto-update as default. "a popup asking if you would like to install the update now" would be something different and is supported by Updater as semi-auto-mode. It was easier to change this preference in earlier Acrobat versions. If you can't find this option in the Menu\Preferences, the only way to change to semi-auto mode is to set it in Registry.

Regstry path is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Adobe\Adobe ARM\Legacy\Acrobat\[GUID]

Set registry value Mode to 2 instead of 3.

Hi @RoweComputersAndMedia

Thanks for your valuable feedback. I would like to let you know that auto-update are by default enabled for Acrobat and when the actual patch install is triggered post patch patch download, Updater won't allow Acrobat to launch Acrobat as it's busy updating the files.

But you feedback is valid and we will see how we can better the experience for the user

Regards

Ravi
