I have Windows 11 Laptop,
Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 22H2
Installed on ‎2024/‎01/‎26
OS build 22621.3155
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22684.1000.0
Office Version: Office 365_64-bit
Outlook Version: Outlook 2016 64-bit

I am using Acrobat Pro: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe
Version: 23.8.20533.0 Creation Date: 2024/02/10

I recently upgraded the office 365 and along it came with "NEW" Outlook
with this version of New Outlook, I am unable to directly open PDF's with Adobe. I first have to download
save it to a directory and then Open with Adobe. This was not the case last week before I upgraded. Is there a work around as I have searched high and low and I am unable to find an answer/solution.

Solution has been found, revert back to Outlook with toggle button. Then all of the above issues are gone.
if you can not find the Outlook toggle button, click on help and type out revert back to old outlook. Then click on "show me how"

Is that by double-clicking on the attachment or the 'preview' button available within the email?

I have also noticed another issue that has cropped up. When I send an email directly from Adobe, it opens up my "New Outlook" I am able to type and then click send and the email, will not appear in my sent items. That is very strange

Adding additional observations regarding use of Adobe Acrobat Professional in New Outlook. I am an IT support specialist for a law firm that uses Adobe Acrobat to archive all client email messages as .pdf documents in their file repository in Teams/OneDrive/SharePoint.

We have advised users to stick with Classic Outlook until Adobe and/or Microsoft improves the end-user experience with Adobe Acrobat integration in Outlook. With the Classic Outlook, it is a simple process to right-click on an email message and either save it as a pdf (with a custom name) or append it to previous messages in their paperless correspondence files.

With the "New" Outlook, the end-user must sign-in to enable the Acrobat extension within Outlook and then, instead of simply right-clicking an item in the Inbox to save or append it, the use must click another side bar icon and then is not given a choice to save or append but only to save or print. When saving, a snippet of the subject line is used and there is no option to add a date refence or file no to the name of the pdf before saving it.

This is a highly unproductive version of the Adobe Acrobat extension and a poor example of trying to incorporate a feature that actually works better in the previous Outlook version. When time is money - as it is for all legal professionals - this is a huge backwards step for Microsoft and Adobe.

Please note we will be sharing the same feedback with Adobe software.

Sincerely,

I also have the exact same issue with the "New" Outlook. I am in transportation & desire the old way of easily opening emailed docs in Adobe & processing PDFs w Adobe Acrobat Pro.  The New Outlook way of processing MANY PDF docs a day is terrible & way too slow. It seems to me the only solution (mid June 2024) is to uninstall New Outlook & install Classic (Old) Outlook because I do not have a "toggle button" in the New Outlook. Have you received any other or new ideas to resolve this awful problem?  Please advise.
