Is it possible to create a PDF that is capable of renaming (or creating a copy with a new name) other file types t han PDF, e.g. *.jpeg? I am open to purchasable solutions, plugins, or script/action wizard steps I can take myself. I just want to understand if it possible at all. Thank you

I would rename files from my OS. No need to invoke Acrobat here.

The short answer is NO. The Acrobat JavaScript model is sandboxed for secuity reasons. Basically it is heavily restricted in operations that touch the users hard drive, and espcially non-pdf files.   Most operations that do touch the hard drive require either direct user involvment, or some kind of special trust mechanism. So the long answer is sort-of. There are somethings you can do in this area, but they are awkard and not perfect.

A plugin written in C/C++ can do this.

Granted, a plug-in can do this.  Contact me through this forum if you are interested in custom development of such a plug-in.
