Using buttons for a popup window, stack order changes after clicked...?

So I have a created a test PDF to show someone how buttons can be used to create a popup window. When you open the PDF and click the button, the pop up window appears, as it should, over the other elements on the page (including the button to display the popup). However, when you then click to close the popup window down, should the user then decide to click to open the popup window again, the button now sits on top of the window, rather than behind. Why would this happen?

Even weirder, I found out that if I close the popup window, and then click somewhere else on the page and then back to open the popup window, everything works as it should. I obviously can't expect all users to do this additional step.

Any ideas?

I've uploaded the PDF if anyone wants to download to see what I mean and see if they can determine the issue.

Use read only for the button "Popup Window".

Cheers. Tried it, but it doesn't make a difference.

I would hide the "trigger" field when displaying the popup field, and show it back again when the latter is closed.

That's definitely an option, and I had considered it. The solution is fine if the window covers the entire button as the user won't be able to see that the trigger field has disappeared. But ideally I'd like to find a solution for any future times when hiding it is not really an option.

If the two fields are not overlapping then it shouldn't be an issue at all. If they are, partially or completely, you should hide the trigger field.
