Does anyone know if there is a way to use Mac's built-in "Speak Selection" tool (in Accessibility, in Venture aka OS13.2) instead of Acrobat's Read Aloud feature?
I find the Read Aloud cumbersome to use and can never get the speed or pitch right, even if I use the default setting. (Acrobat speaks much faster and higher, regardless of what I do.) Also, I want to read sentence by sentence, sometimes line by line, and need to stop and start a lot. I find it just so much easier to select text, hit a keyboard shortcut and read along while I listen. (I'm proofreading, fwiw.) However, when I use my keyboard shortcut – which works in every other app – the computer reads only the file name and not the selected text.
Thanks.

Hi @madelinekoch ,
You must refer to Apple's Official Accessibility Support Website and the macOS Ventura User guide:
If I am not mistaken, some Accessibility feature may not be available for macOS computers with M1 chips.
In any case, you may want to check if Single-key Accelerators option is disabled in the Preferences settings of Adobe Acrobat:
