Video links are not working

New Here ,
Sep 23, 2019 Sep 23, 2019

Hello there, we are trying to link a video file, not embed it, in a pdf and is not working.

We've done it a million times and this is a bit strange. Our process is that we create a folder we place the pdf and then we link videos in it from a specific folder. Once we click on the link the .mp4 file opens in quicktime. However since 2 days ago, this is not possible, can somebody help, we have a big presentation tomorrow and can't miss this feature

Hi There,

Thanks for reaching out. As described above, video links are not working, correct?

We tried reproducing the issue and its working fine on our end. Would you mind sharing some more information for a better understanding:

  • Are you getting any error message/code while linking and playing the video? Please share the screenshot of the same .
  • What is the workflow or steps you are doing to add a video link?
  • What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat DC installed on your computer? To check the version of the application please go to Help > Click, About Adobe Acrobat DC.
  • Please check for any missing updates and try updating the application. Go to Help > Check for Updates. To know more about the latest version available please use the link  - https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html
  • Also make sure that you have Adobe flash player installed on your computer.

You may also use the steps provided in the help article - https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/rich-media.html

Let us know if that works for you

Regards

Amal

The workflow is the following. We make a folder with the pdf and the video files on our desktop. Then we open the .pdf and we go to edit > add link > invisible rectangle , OPEN file and then save it. The when we re-open the security dialogue comes out, but it won't open the file which is reall strange as we really done it 1000000 times before The version of the Adobe Acrobat DC is the latest i did the update

Hello

Thank you for explaining the workflow in detail. We don't have the option to add a video link to a PDF from Edit Tool > Add link.

To add the video link to the PDF you need to use the Add Rich Media Tool > Add video

For detailed information please refer to the help article  - https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/rich-media.html

If you are using a different workflow to add the video files to PDF please share the screen recording of the same for testing. Please upload the file to https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/home/ and share the link.

Regards,

Amal
