Visio to PDF issues

Oct 15, 2018 Oct 15, 2018

I have a couple issues after using Acrobat Pro XI to convert a Visio 2010 document to PDF. These problems don't occur when I use the built-in PDF export, but I require Acrobat so I can create a layered PDF. I have searched for days trying to find a solution to these but can't find anything.

  • Searching within the PDF does not work well. It seems to treat the shapes as inline text (meaning that if I searched for "bobsyouruncle" it might find "bobsyour" in one shape and "uncle" in another but treat them as a single word. This is troublesome because it makes it harder to find unique results when searching.
  • I have several sub-address hyperlinks linking shapes to other shapes. The hyperlinks don't technically break but they don't take you to the correct shape; they all seem to take me another place in the document.

Like I said, these problems don't occur when I use the built-in PDF creator, but I need to use Acrobat so I can export it to layers. Thanks in advance for any help.

Edit: I have since upgraded to Visio 2016 and Acrobat Pro 2017 and still have the same issues.
