Way slow using Measure and Freezing with Comment

New Here ,
Jan 26, 2018 Jan 26, 2018

I have a new Lenovo Yoga 910 with good specs (i7, 16gb Ram).  I am attempting to use the measure and comment tools in Acrobat DC (not pro version) and am having a very difficult time.  The measure tool works, but the pdf is constantly losing layers and making it impossible to follow lines as they are disappearing and reappearing.  When I use the comment tool I can add a text box, but things are moving so slow and the program finally freezes.  I hit save and it sometimes will.  I have run the install repair and made sure that the enhanced security was set correctly.  I also did a pdf print on the pages I need in order to reduce the file size and layers, but no change.  I previously had a Surface Pro 4 with lower specs running Acrobat Pro DC and could use these features seamlessly.  What can I do?

Hi Jodyb.mvc,

Sorry for the delay in response.

As the application is freezing when you use the Measure or Comment tool, try the troubleshooting steps mentioned here Troubleshoot Windows system errors, freezes | Adobe software.

Make sure that you are using the latest version of the application.

You may refer this help document Release Notes | Adobe Acrobat, Reader for information on latest updates.

If that does not help, try recreating preferences of the application.

Refer the steps mentioned here How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.

Check if that resolves the issue.

If you still experience the issue, please let us know if that occurs with a particular PDF or with all.

Share the exact version of the application. Take help of the steps provided in this document Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC.

What is the OS version installed on your machine?

Let us know if you have any question or need any help.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Hi Jodyb. I know it's late, but this is for other people who also suffered the same situation as i am. My measuring tool hangs when i make measurements and doesn't make it to the "result" or final measurement.

What I did is to uninstalled adobe acrobat, installed "AcroCleaner" (an acrobat cleaner tool), after running the acrocleaner, i have restarted my PC, then reinstalled the acrobat reader, then viola, my problem was solved. Hope this will help you and the others facing the same problem.
