Adobe Arabic font is the default font if you choose to install the Middle Eastern version of Adobe CC. This font shows up by default since Adobe released its first Creative Cloud back in 2013.
When we use Adobe Arabic font to type Arabic text in Illustrator it shows well and it is searchable, however, when we export the page to PDF, then search the PDF for an existing Arabic word, Acrobat Pro/Reader fails to find the word even though the text in PDF is live, and I can see the font in the fonts list as shown below…
When I change the font to "Arial" in Adobe Illustrator, then save it as PDF, the file is searchable.
On another issue, in Adobe Acrobat, if I use Adobe Arabic to fill up fields in an interactive form, the text shows well on screen, however, the text is barely readable on paper when we print the PDF, all Arabic characters in any filled field will appear overlapping each other.
Arabic text in form fields will look fine on screen and on print-out if the used font is Arial for instance!
Since the font is a default Arabic font provide by Adobe, many users will use it first hand without looking for another font. These mentioned issues have to be addressed, the font should be properly tested.
