When I convert word to PDF, my hyperlinks break. How do I fix this?

When I convert word to PDF, all of my hyperlinks within the document break. How do I fix this? Do I need a different version of Acrobat? I have a macbook air and Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Acrobat Reader can't create PDF files. You need Adobe Acrobat for this.

Reading is fundamental - OP was creating the document in Word. The use of Adobe Acrobat Reader was only to view the PDF.
