Where are the pdf maker files

Downloaded acrobat.

Want to c9ombine old word documenst (loads of them) into one neat pdf.

Error message comes up.  Pdf maker files needed.  

Where are they? Shouldn't they have come with the download?

Any help really appreciated.

I'm wondering am I attempting the impossible?

Maybe my ancient files are simply not compatible.  I had a quick look at some notes and it appears the older the version of word, the less chance of it working.

What's the exact version number of the application (You can find it out by going to Help - About Adobe Acrobat)? What's your OS version? What's your Office version?
