I spent bloody ages sorting my pdfs and arranging all of their contents through the bookmark feature; was pretty proud of myself and then decided to "star" my two pdf docs I spent the most time catergorising. ya know? Because they were quite precious and I wanted to seperate them from all my uncatergorised docs.
...
Does Adobe think their bloody funny or somethin'? Is my entire afternoon just a bloody joke to 'em? Cos it bloody feels like it.
Now I'm currently decending into the deepest pits of sadness as all of my hardwork seems to have been erased... as all of my bookmarks have been wiped of the face of the earth.
I'm sad now.
Edit: I tried to get over myself and remade all of my bookmarks. They stayed for a little while and I thought "Woah...is this...really gonna work out..?" No. No it wasn't. As soon as I opened a seperate PDF, the bookmarks on the former were eradicated completely. Is there some kind of save bookmarks function that I'm unaware of? Because I'm stumped and frankly, exhausted of bookmarking now. Better off just throwing everything in the Rubbish if it's going to vanish when I'm not lookin'.

Here is the PDF in question. Thanks for any insights you might be able to offer. Finally, I realize this is not the fault of any individual Adobe representetive who may be on this forum. My frustration is directed toward Adobe in general and what seems--from this end--to be a slow response to a reoccuring issue.

Create the document and add the bookmarks with Adobe Acrobat.

For the record, I am encountering the same thing on a more recent release.
Windows 10, Continuous Release Version 2022.001.20085

I'm having the same issue. I'm not using any plugin or any additional software. I'm paying Adobe every month for Creative Cloud and to have disappearing bookmarks is unacceptable!

Same problem, although in my case it is also editing/deleting existing bookmarks that will cause all of them to disappear the next time the saved file is opened. This is beyond aggrivating! (Windows 10, Acrobat DC 22.001.20117, NO plugins)

No Easy fix so I did "Combine files" with a random file, deleted that page after combining. Then I added all the bookmarks again and saved it.

Had the same thing happen to me on my Android.
I have a huge PDF of guitar songs and chords that I use when I play guitar, so out of the thousands of pages I bookmark only the ones I like. I renamed the bookmarks to easily find them and all worked fine till today when all my bookmarks were suddenly gone!
Very frustrating!

Well, near end of Feb. 2023, still no answer or solution!! DC (Win 10) does not show my bookmarks either. I am sure the doc. has them.

So, has anyone at all actually REPORTED this problem? Adobe don't read these messages.

And keep going further till July 2023 still happening. And not just an isolation instance mind you. When you pay a premium price, you expect a premium product. I won't be renewing my subscription when it falls due.

Might not be the same issue but I was unable to save bookmarks recently and contacted Adobe support. They were very helpful and remoted onto my laptop to show me how to "flatten" the document before adding bookmarks so that the layers reset back to zero.
- Opened up the file in Acrobat - Selected Print - Print as Microsoft PDF
And the new document was able to save my newly created bookmarks.

It's July, 2024. I met the same problem. I added the bookmark, and when closing it, and open it again, the bookmark disappears! Ironically, the first bookmark in the list didn't disappear (In my case, "Preface" bookmark survived, but the "Chapter1", "Chapter2", ... all disappeared).

Hi @T338541570m1g,
Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble, and the delayed response.
Would you mind trying out the latest version of the application (2024.005.30320), and letting us know if you still experience the issue.
If yes, please share a screen recording of the entire workflow for a better understanding and assistance.
Look forward to hearing from you.
