Why don't my sticky note comments show the comment actually made?

I put a sticky note on the document, typed in the box, saved it, and the next time I opened the document it was like all of the sticky notes had been disabled.  I can run my mouse over them and it's not recognizable as a comment. No pop up.  I tried finding 'how to enable your sticky notes' online but to no avail.  Any ideas?

Which application you are working on?

Have you tried expanding the comments in the right comment pane?

Check the comment pane and expand comment and see if you able to see the comment text.
