Why won't Acrobat let me download the latest version?

Explorer ,
Apr 30, 2025 Apr 30, 2025

I keep Acrobat 2020 (Classic) on my desktop because at some point Acrobat removed the scroll bars, (which is how I navigated with my Wacom pen.) Now, I need the latest version (2024 or 2025), so that I can use the most up-to-date Accessiblity tools. But when I go to the Creative Cloud app to download Acrobat, it shows the Open button (instead of Install or Update). When I hit the open button, nothing happens, because it probably thinks I already have it downloaded - which I do, just the 2020 Classic version. I have even went to adobe.com/acrobat/ website to download, and it give me the choice of Free Trial or Buy Now, but I have the Creative Suite on an Enterprise account with my employer.  I just keep going in circles trying to get the latest version, but all my attempts are futile. Can someone help with this issue?

Are you on macOS or Windows?

Steps to enable the scroll bar in Acrobat or Acrobat Reader

You can enable the scroll bar to appear consistently in Acrobat or Acrobat Reader by performing the following steps:

Step 1: Adjust the scroll bar appearance in macOS settings

  1. Choose the Apple menu > System Settings.

  2. Select Appearance in the side bar.

  3. Choose Show scroll bars > Always.

Step 2: Turn on the preference to always show scroll bar

  1. Select Acrobat > Preferences.

  2. From the Categories on the left, choose Page Display > Always show scroll bars.

  3. Select OK.

I'm curious about your screenshot. The Premium tools are only for Acrobat Reader for Mobile.

If you have a subscription to Creative Cloud or just Acrobat, it includes Premium. If you don't, you can subscribe to Premium directly.

I have the Creative Suite

Creative Suite ended with CS6. In 2013 Adobe moved to a Creative Cloud subscription. Is that what you have?

Never mind. I figured it out. I uninstalled the 2020 version, installed the 2025 version, then re-installed the 2020 version. I just wish Acrobat would bring back the scroll bars so I wouldn't have to do this Acrobat gymnastics of switching between the two versions. 🙄

because of potential problems with having multiple acrobat versions on the same computer, that's intentional.
