Windows Server 2016 RDS Error Message - AdobeGrowthSDK.dll

Community Beginner ,
Aug 19, 2025 Aug 19, 2025

Hello,

One user on an RDS is having an issue where an error message will pop up almost every time they open a PDF.

The error is,
"The procedure entry point SetThreadDescription could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\ProgramFiles\Adobe\AcrobatDC\Acrobat\AdobeGrowthSDK.dll."

I have already updated the server and Adobe. I reinstalled Adobe as well but error keeps coming up.

Thanks.

Hi keesha_4249,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble caused.

Please try the steps suggested in the correct answer provided in the following thread with a similar issue: https://adobe.ly/4p0zwyj. See if that helps.

If the issue still occurs, let us know.

Thanks,

Hello,

I did see that thread but was confused. They say to delete everything in APPDATA/LOCALROAMING/ but in the AppData folder I only see...

  • Local
  • LocalLow
  • Roaming

There isn't any "localroaming".

Additionally, later on in the thread that same poster said they had another TS where that solution didn't work which doesn't give me lot of confidence in this fix. Is there a more permanent fix?

Thanks

This regkey fixed it. Thank you!

Hi @lutz_3466,

Thanks for writing in!

This is what you can try:

Go to Start > Registry Editor > paste the location on the top address bar > Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureLockDown > right-click the FeatureLockDown folder on the left panel > New > Key > DWord (32-bit) > name the key "bAJOEnabledDesktopPersonalization" and change the Value to "1."

Let me know if you face any issues doing so.

Regards,
Souvik.
