I keep removing it and it keeps coming back. There's a whole tab for Acrobat. I don't need it taking up real estate on my home tab where styles should be.
Is this pathological behaviour expected? Is there a way to get it stop reading itself?
Using current O365 and Acrobat DC Pro.
Thanks,
Jim 🙂

Hi Jim
Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described you want to remove the Acrobat tab in MS Word?
Are you referring to the Acrobat Ribbon present in MS Word/Office applications in the tool bar at the top? If yes, please try the steps below:
In Word, Go to File > Options > Add-Ins, At the bottom of the Word Options dialogue box, select Manage "COM Add-ins", click Go. In the COM Add-ins screen which pops up, uncheck Acrobat to disable the Add-in. Click OK and reboot the application.
You may also go through the similar Microsoft help page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/get-the-adobe-acrobat-tab-to-appear-b83cbba3-7bc1-4c75-b8d...
Note: It talks about how to enable the addin, by following the instructions in reverse you can disable it.
Hope this information will help

Hi Amal,
Thanks for your response. I definitely want to keep the Add-in. I constantly use the options in the Acrobat tab and it isn't taking up precious real estate on the home tab.
The above is fine (I assume that's the entry for the Add-in you are referring to). I want to keep that. Below is what I want to get rid of. These sit on the Home tab at far right. No matter how many times I remove the entries they keep repeappearing, but going on what you were saying it sounds like there is no way to permanently remove them without removing the add-in. If that's the case it is a horrible development. That space is meant to be for my styles.

Hi there
Please check the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/sign/using/microsoft-word-powerpoint-signature-add-in.html and try the steps in reverse as it talks about how to install the Adobe sign add in and se eif that works.

In fact I've never specifically installed Adobe sign. I assumed it came with the Acrobat subscriptions.
No Add-ins here. This is using my own home office computer, and using my own MS O365 and CC licences.

Like I said in the previous post, I'm working from my home office. I connect through office 365 to two other organisations. Neither of them have Adobe sign deployed. At least not at the tenant level, as demonstrated in the article you linked. I am an O365 admin for both these organisations.

Hi Grumpy
We are sorry to hear that. It seems to be some issue with MS Word, you may also try to get in touch with the Microsoft support team and see if that helps.

This isn't a permanent fix. I have to do this several times every day becasue Acrobat keeps re-installing itself in the ribbon. There are tons of threads about this problem online. Lots of people don't like the way Adobe attacks other software like Word. Surely Adobe is aware of this by now. The question is why won't you stop? Why won't you give your users control over how their software functions? Why did you design something so annoying that actively thwarts the user's intent? Why does Adobe seem to think that it knows how my computer should be setup better than I do?

Hi there
Hope you are doing well. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Unfortunately, in this case, there isn't much we can do from our end, as the add-ins automatically reappear after the computer reboots. We recommend reaching out to the Microsoft Support team for further assistance and guidance on resolving this issue effectively.

for a clearly Adobe problem is laughable. Microsoft has no control over how
Adobe writes software. Adobe is clearly the problem here. I know that
because if I uninstall Adobe, Word functions perfectly.
I would really appreciate it (and I know I’m not alone) if Adobe accept
ownership of this issue and release an update that fixes it.

I don't understand why the state if this item being reset in the ribbon after reboot is an MS problem. Clearly this is something the Adobe plugin is doing.
This thread absolutely should not be marked resolved. This problem happens across all devices. Hone and office. This is no a Word or MS problem.

It means I cannot have word and acrobat on the same machine. I guess I will have to get rid of it.

YES AND DOUBLE YES. I WILL HAVE TO UNINSTALL THE SOFTWARE ON THE OFFENDING MACHINE BECAUSE IT CRASHES MY SYSTEM. I ALREADY HAD TO UNINSTALL PHOTOSHOP. NOW I CANNOT USE THE BSCRIPTION THAT I PAY FOR BECAUSE WORD KEEPS CRASHING WITH THIS STUPID ADD ON..
IT IS LIKE SYSYPHUS. BASHING YOUR HEAD AGAINST A ROCK ONLY TO DO THE SAME DAMN THING DAY AFTER DAY AFTER DAY AFTER DAY AFTER DAY.

I HAVE DONE THIS MORE THAN 100 TIIMES AND NOTHING STOPS IT FROM COMING BACK. IF IT DID NOT CRASH MY ENTIRE SYSTEM I WOULD NOT MIND. WHEN I GET RID OF SOMETHING I WANT IT GONE AND I WANT IT TO STAY GONE. WHAAT KIND OF BS IS THIS???
