Word Chapter konverting to bookmarks issue

Hi,

the last years i was able to convert/save word documents with a lot of chapters and subchapters into PDFs with all these chapters as bookmarks.

However, something has changed lately. I tried to do the same thing as always with all options set like before and while creating the bookmarks the process is taking like forever and after around a hundred bookmarks does not progress at all.

So I at first thought i might have done something different in this document and therefore tried an older document, which i already successfully converted into a PDF with bookmarks in the past. This time it would get past the same issue with the bookmarks. I tried a couple of other documents and the problem is always the bookmarks. When I deactivate the bookmarks I will get the PDF without any trouble, however I really need the bookmarks.

Has something changed in this area between mid till end of last year?

Is there any advice what I could try?

I am wondering if the styles in your Word document might not be the problem.  Are the chapter headings using the same style?  If you go to the Acrobat Ribbon (in Word), click the Preferences button, and the Bookmarks tab, do you see that Style?  Is it checked?  Yesterday, I converted a Word doc to PDF, and this feature worked properly for me.

thank you for your reply.

The Settings i alwaysed used had just the Word titles to bookmark box checked and it has always worked fine.

If i check the other box with Word style it still wont work as it did half a year ago.
