Wrapping Sentences in Form Fields

When creating fillable forms, whether from a scanned document or an electronic saved copy, how can I make the form wrap sentences down to the next line?  Currently my forms don't move the sentences down to the next line along with the entered text and has to be done with the mouse or tab button.  I want to make the form user friendly and "flow" from line to line when writing multiple sentences.

Are you talking moving from one form field to another, or to have multiple

lines within the same field?

Wow I appreciate your quick response.  Let me try to clear up my question.  In developing my form from a PDF file Acrobat was able to create form fields automatically and was perfect except for the fact in one area of the form where a question is asked.  There are several lines for the user to reply on but once you start typing, the wording runs only to the end of that one line and just shrinks in font to accomadate the length of the response.  How can I make the form let the typing automatically move to the next line then the next line etc..?

Go to that fields properties and tick on the Multiline box (under the

Options tab). Also, change the font size from Auto to something else to

prevent the text from shrinking when it doesn't fit the box anymore.

Alright that was easy enough to find and click on but still doesn't automatically let the text flow onto the next line.  It still backs up on the same line.  Any other tips?

Tick "Scroll long text" as well.

Now it just scrolls on the same line and does not move to the next one either.  So now I have set the text size to 12 and clicked multiline and scroll long texting too and nothing is working.

Either there's something wrong with your file, or I'm not understanding

what you want to achieve...

If you wish, you can send it to me at try6767 at gmail dot com and I'll

have a look at it.

Multiline.PNGDoes this picture help?  I want peoples response to each of these questions to flow to the next line.  Right now the answers only fill up the first short line and do not move down to the second whole line.

My first question was if you're talking about separate fields or a single

field. You didn't answer it directly, but I understood from your answer

that it was a single field. From the picture it's obvious that those are

separate fields, after all.

What you want to do can only be achieved by a script that checks if the

field is of a certain length, and if so, automatically changes the focus to

the next one.

I've been able to accomplish setting the focus to the next field using a document level script, character limit, and keystroke event to call the function, but can you point me in the right direction of ensuring the whole word gets moved?

The auto-focus method doesn't hyphenate or move the word, and you can't seem to go back to the previous field (or can you?) by hitting delete. I'm not sure of the logic, but I would like it so the whole word would move to the next line if the limit is reached in the middle of a word. Maybe using text as string and regular expressions?

Hello! I know it has been an age since you posted this question on here. But I am dealing with the same issue on my side and am wondering if you ever found the answer?

Same as comment right before mine. Just discovered this is an issue for the forms I use as well. It's now 2022.

When I did a search on this topic, this post was at the top of the list.

Here is what I found.https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/using/pdf-form-field-properties.html

You have to go into the properties section of the text field. And click on options and go from there. I am still testing it out. But this is the best info I have found

If you make sure "multi line" is checked and "scroll long text" is uncheked it should work. Seems to be working for me.
