What is the workflow/steps you are taking to create the PDF file? If you are trying to create the PDF form MS Office, please check the steps shared in the correct answer marked in a similar discussion : https://adobe.ly/45ydJox and see if that works for you.

Click create from files and select a bunch of Microsoft Word docx files

what finally worked is create (print) pdf files for each Word document. In Acrobat select Dateien zusammenfügen and select all the pdfs.
