I had to replace the hard drive on my computer and am reloading programs.  I downloaded Adobe Acrobat Reader DC today, version 2020.009.20074.   I have Windows 10 and installed through the download for Chrome on the Adobe website.  I had my Norton antivirus, protection, firewall, etc turned off.   The install seemed to go fine, the home screen opened in the program.   Adobe Acrobat Reader designated as default program to open pdf files.   I attempted to open a pdf.   The pdf viewing screen comes up, but the center where the document would appear is a blank.   This displays only momentarily, and then the program appears to crash and close itself.    No matter what pdf I try, the same result, whether a pdf on my computer or a pdf in an Outlook email message.  Even the "welcome" pdf on the Home page of the program yields the same result.  There is no error message from AARDC.   I have rebooted the PC but no change.   I have uninstalled Reader DC and reinstalled it five times.   Same behavior.   We have the same version of Reader DC on our other computer with no problems.   Hope someone here knows what is blocking the program from functioning.
