Acrobat Reader DC RdrCEF.exe *32 consuming high CPU resources

Hi,

I am using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Version: 2017.012.20098 in Windows 7 - 64 bits system.

Each time I open a pdf document to read, the system starts running the system process RdrCEF.exe *32 in duplicate, making the CPU consumption very high and the ventilator to run very fast.

In Adobe I can see that the mouse pointer changes all the time like trying to process something, even if the document is just open to read.

Do you know how to stop this process to run, I just need Acrobat Reader to see documents, not for anything else.

thanks for your answer. I have the latest Acrobat Reader version available.

I followed the thread you sent me and I changed the program RdrCEF.exe compatibility to Windows 7 as mentioned by antonis.ch in his answer and the problem stops happening.

Please check for any pending updates for Acrobat Reader DC from Help>Check for updates.

How can I see the steps involved to correct the problem.  I'm having the same issue and went back to an earlier version to work with.  But it would be nice if someone could supply the exact key stroke steps to make RdrCEF.exe compatibility to Windows 7.

Hi BryBrooks,

Please check for any pending updates from help>Check for updates as such issues are fixed with our latest updates.

If this does not help, please follow the steps:

1. Go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\AcroCEF

2. Right Click on "RdrCEF.exe" and choose Properties? or you will get Compatibility tab when you right click.

3. Select Compatibility tab

4. Either run compatibility troubleshooter and try the different versions or tick compatibility mode and select "Windows XP (Service Pack3)"

5. The issue will stop without losing functionality.
