This is frustrating. When I make a PDF document in Adobe illustrator and saves it, I can open it in Acrobat reader. But if I make any changes and press save, the edits does not show in Adobe Reader, I have to save it as a new document, and that will make a lot of documents in the end...
Earlier this was not a problem, I pushed save, and the edit was there in Acrobat at once.
I know the changes are saved, because I tried to close and open the document in Illustrator, and the ediits were there, so I don't think Illustrator is the problem..
Please help... Thank you 🙂

Files opened in Reader (or Acrobat for that matter) don't update automatically. You have to close them and then re-open them to see any changes that were made using other applications. Are you saying it's not showing the changes even after you're re-opened the file?

Yes, I have closed them and reopened them. It´s still no change in the edited files.

Thanks for reaching out. Can you share the screenrecording of the issue to better understand the problem. Are you facing this issue with this file on other viewers as well like chrome , acrobat web or is it Acrobat reader only ?
Please note , Illustrator and Reader are two completely separate applications and changes saved in one will not reflect in other directly.

Thanks for your reply.
The problem is when I open the files in Acrobat reader after saving it in Illustrator. I do save as "Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities". It's saved in Illustrator, but it's not updated in Reader. After I checked the box "open in acrobat reader after saving" the problem was solved. Now I can see the updated file.
However I now have the same problem in Indesign after exportin to PDF. I checked the box to open in Reader after saving the file, but it does not open the updated file...

A PDF made with Illustrator when the "Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities" option is ticked create a hybrid file:
- a PDF file
- an AI file.
Both are embedded in one .pdf "shell" file.
An AI file made with Illustrator when the "Create PDF compatible file" option is ticked create a hybrid file:
- a PDF file
- an AI file.
Both are embedded in one .ai "shell" file.
In any case you must Save As to update both files.
