Acrobat Reader Plugin Plugin - Safari Version 17.5

New Here ,
Jun 25, 2024 Jun 25, 2024

Good morning

There is no place to enable the extension anymore on the new safari.  PDF files now open in the browser as a preview and does not have full functionality.

Please advise how to set Safari to use Adobe as the reader for PDF files?

Hi Jupiter_24,

Thank you for reaching out.

Please try manually adding it using the steps suggested here:https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

If you still experience the issue, let us know.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Meenakshi, on various sites you have offered the Adobe link above as a way to solve this problem. At one of those sites, it was indicated to you (so I'll remind again) that the suggested link goes to outdated 2023 instructions. There's no "Preferences" (it's now "Settings"). And the option the instructions offer is not even an available. option.  PLEASE PLEASE advise with updated instructions. Thank you.

Not sure what you guys did, but recently I've noticed that my PDF files in preview are now 'fit to window' and the preview window is small so I have to constantly increase the size, and I deal with this at least 80 times a day, my mouse finger is getting tired.  The full browser is already configured to fit width (which is what it was doing before and is fine), and not fit to page.  Your instructions are OLD, please update them, and also tell us how to configure settings under the safari browser so we can change how it displays.  #Safari #browser #extension

Hi @andrew_7876,

Hope you are doing well. Thanks for writing in!

From the description, it seems the issue is with how the Preview app is displaying the PDF files, and not Acrobat.

If it is so, we do not have much control over how the app handles page display.

Also, certain files may have the Page View settings set by the creator when they were created.

If you have Acrobat, you can open the file, go to Document Properties, select Initial View, and check the settings that have been set.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Souvik.

Hey There,

Thanks for the response, to confirm, it's the web app that I'm using that has programmed the preview app to "fit to window"?  Once I receive confirmation I'll follow up with them.
