How do you open files? Does it work when you launch Reader, then choose File > Open?

What do you mean "switches to Creative Cl"? Can you show a screen shot of before the switch and after the switch?

Thank you Jane. I had tried opening the file itself, instead of opening it through Reader. It appears that that has solved the problem.

Thanks again.

You're welcome, @Miamiguy .

If you were trying to open it by double-clicking it in Mac Finder or Windows File Explorer and it was opening the wrong application, the computer associates the extension (PDF in this case) with a particular application and sometimes it has to be corrected.

If you are on Windows, follow these steps from Microsoft Help:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-default-programs-in-windows-10-e5d82cad-17d1-c53b...

Using File > Open from inside the application should always work.
