I don't know where to find the answers.  I am unable to afford Windows to install Adobe Acrobat Reader DC; so I had to resort to XUbuntu.  In know I should go to those forums and I will, but why would Adobe Acrobat Reader DC say that the advanced features in their product to read fdf files are only a trial period.

I don't understand your question. If you don't have Windows how would you run Reader DC? The last Reader for Linux was 9.

There are no trials in Reader. Acrobat Pro has a trial of course.
