Is Adobe Acrobat Reader DC capable of opening Firmware update from Canon ? This will then be uploaded onto a CF Card for insertion to Canon 7D camera. I am a Mac user. My version 18.011.20055 will not open Firmware direct from Canon

First after you download the Firmware file from Canon, you open the .dmg file.  There is a folder of PDFs that you open for the instructions.

Inside are the instructions to install the firmware and it's a PDF. That is what you open in Acrobat Reader, not the Firmware.FIR file.

Adobe Reader cannot open that type.

Instead you will drag and drop the .fir file from the Finder window onto your SD Card to copy it there, and then look at the PDF for instructions to update.
