Adobe file name how long it could be

Hi,

I shall be thankful if anyone could guide me, my adobe files contain names in Japanese, English or some time in Chinese. For help write now I am adding English alongwith Japanesse or Chinese doing this makes file name longer.

I wonder how many characters should be in a file name? Or any suggestions.

There is a limit on the whole path. Not the file name part. 

Like C:\PLACE\HERE\THIS WHOLE NAME.PDF

This may be around 255 characters.

Hi   I am using below code to get active doc file name in my plug-in application,

ASPathName asSourcePath = ASFileAcquirePathName(PDDocGetFile(pdDoc));
char *lsSourcePath = ASFileSysDIPathFromPath(ASGetDefaultFileSys(), asSourcePath, NULL);

it is fine for English text, but when I have Japanese text in the file name, it is not,

how can I obtain Japanese text file name for an active document?  Any help would be highly appreciated.
