Adobe Reader and Acrobat Pro 9 cannot coexist

I got a problem with my Adobe Creative Suite 4 and reinstalled it from my CDs. I then downloaded the latest version of Reader and now I got a a couple of problems that I cannot figure out a solution for.

1.  I have an existing PDF file created in Acrobat Pro 9.0. Using the same program I then want to add to it a PDF file that was created using Photoshop and saved as a PDF. This generates an error message "an incorrect structure was found in the pdf". I have spent hours trying ot figure out how to solve this but I'm stuck.

2. The AcrobatReader I downloaded is the latest version. Whn opening an existing PDF document with it the Reader freezes after about 3-4 seconds and then it is "not responding" for about 15 seconds before it works as it should. I cannot figure out how to solve that either.

Thankful for any suggestions on why this is and how to solve it.
