Adobe Reader Certificates on Samsung DeX

Hello the all-knowing Adobe community,

I have a questions concerning the compatibility of digital sealing on a mobile hardware such as a tablet.

In my line of work I create documents that I then seal with a digital certificate with the help of the "Certificates" option in Adobe Reader DC (the free version not Pro) before sending them to clients.

I am now in the process of acquiring a Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 with the integrated Samsung DeX.  The salesman affirms that all windows applications will also be able to run on the DeX but I have my doubts as, to my mind, it is still an android operating system.  I also understand that you do not have the same signing options on the mobile Adobe Reader than you have of the desktop version.

My questions are:

  • Can desktop version of Adobe Reader DC run on Samsung Dex?
  • If so, would this mean that I could use the same signing options that I have been using until now to sign documents on the tablet?
  • If not, is there any way to use the mobile version of Adobe Reader to seal documents through digital certificates on the go, in the same way I have been doing until now on the desktop version?

I thank you in advance for any useful advice or recommendations you would be able to give me.

Certainly the Android Reader is painfully limited for some reason. But the Windows thing... I hadn't heard of this. So far as I can see the Dex runs a "virtualised client" Windows which means it doesn't run Windows at all, but lets you see Windows running on ANOTHER computer. So, it allows you to run Windows on am Amazon cloud server, which you see on screen. This may work very well if you have full time, very very fast, internet, and basic needs. A reviewer writes "The Amazon app allows you to run full screen, which makes it feel like you're running Windows. A casual passer-by would never know. Not unless they used it, upon which time they would detect the abysmal lag and know something was up."

By the way the Amazon thing also has a cost. "For example, if you reside in the eastern part of the US, are using Windows, monthly pricing would start at $25.00 while hourly pricing begins at $7.25 per month plus$0.22 per hour. For comprehensive enterprise pricing, visit the Amazon WorkSpaces pricing page or get in touch with the sales department."

Thank you very much for this information even if I am not certain if I understood (not really that tech savy...).  Does it basically mean that no windows applications can directly run on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4's version of DeX?

That's my reading of the review. They run on someone else's Windows.

How about thinking of it this way. Here I am, sitting at a Windows computer. Suppose you could get a picture of what was happening on my screen, on your tablet. Would look like you were running Windows.

Now, suppose you could add a mouse and keyboard to your tablet, and they magically worked my computer. So you can type on your keyboard, my computer shows it on screen, and you now see it on the tablet. Might feel like you're running Windows, but you're not - I am. You would have like a remote control of my computer.

No Windows computer? Amazon will sell you a pretend one, all your own, out on the internet, for $25 a month.

Basically, if you can't get your head around these technical aspects - and who you'd need to keep paying, and how much, and what sort of internet you'd need - run away! There are much better ways to run Windows than this!

Salesmen, by the way, are not experts on computers, clouds, or Amazon stuff. They are experts on selling stuff.
