Adobe Reader crashing constantly! Help!

Community Beginner ,
Nov 15, 2016 Nov 15, 2016

Does anyone else find that is crashes every few minutes?  I have uninstalled and reinstalled but still have this problem.

I've also found that if I use the "search comments" function that it deletes all comments/markups from the pdf!  I no longer use the comments pane because of this but even so it still crashes all the time so I have to save every few minutes to avoid losing any comments/markups.

I have Windows 8.1 on an acer laptop.

Any help appreciated as I need to do many pdf markups for work and I'm finding it unbearable to use!

Thanks

Bridie

I've uninstalled DC and installed Adobe reader 11. So many crash reports on this forum for DC, so have given up tinkering!

Reader 11 has been working fine for over an hr without crashing.

Thanks

Hi Bbbb81,

Thanks for sharing the detailed information.

As mentioned above, you have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application but that didn't make any difference.

So I would recommend you to try resting the preferences of the Adobe Reader and see if that helps.

Solution-1

  • Quit Acrobat.
  • In Windows Explorer, go to the Preferences folder:

    (Windows 7 or higher) C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\[version]

    Or %Appdata%>Roaming>Adobe>Acrobat>[version]

  • Move the Preferences folder to another location (for example, C:\Temp).
  • Restart Acrobat.

Solution-2

If that doesn't work, then-

Let us know if that doesn't work.

Regards,

Akanchha
