Adobe Reader DC crashes when I interact with it.

Acrobat was working just fine on my machine: Windows 10 64 bit pro ver 10.0.17134.829.

Acrobat reader recently updated itself and since then I've had an odd problem. I can open a PDF and view it. I can scroll up/down with my mouse wheel and I can close the right hand tool-panel but if I try to do anything like use a menu, move the window, resize the window, maximise it... anything like that and Reader crashes and vanishes without any message.

This morning I tried uninstalling and re-downloading/installing. I have the same Acrobat ver 19.012.20034 as I did before I uninstalled it.

The problem persists.

I see mention of using an acrobat cleaner to remove it and try - but the links show that article is for Vista and is dated with an uninstall tool from 2015.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Has anyone else resolved it?

Well as nobody has ventured any thoughts I'll give an update.

Today I've been doing a PC tune-up. I've gone through with CCleaner sorting out registry items, uninstalling apps that are no longer needed and so on.

As part of my tune-up I also had another go at uninstall/reinstall. This time I dug out the AdobeAcroCleaner_DC2015 tool so as to remove all trace of Acrobat Reader and then I re-booted and downloaded a fresh copy of it.

Upon install (and another re-boot) the problem is - exactly as it was.

Of the two menus - the proper text based "menu" at the top, and the icon-based menu/tool-bar below it, I can interact with the latter.

I can for example go to the Home/Tools/Document tabs. I can zoom in/out, hit "find" or print and switch between arrow and hand tools. I. I can even highlight and add test notes to a PDF.

I can show and hide the toolbar to the right and left.

What I am unable to do is use any of the "file/edit/view/window/help" in the topmost menu. I am unable to resize the window, either by dragging the border or by using the maximise icon at the top. I can't drag the window using the menu-bar to re-position it.

Effectively I'm stuck with a Reader window that is open to a fraction of my screen size. I used to be able to drag it to my second screen if I needed but now it's pinned to my main screen.

At this rate I shall have to uninstall it and use another PDF reader application.

Any bright ideas at all? It's the ONLY app that's behaving in this way on my PC.

Manuel, I tried using the translator to understand what you said - it doesn't seem to relate to my question at all.

Manuel, your question still doesn't relate to my own question. You're asking about paid support. You need to open a new thread for that. I'm asking about the FREE PDF Reader software.

to be able to read and print PDF I installed the "Win XP 64bit" version on my PC. It looks "old", but it works.

if that works you should be able to use it with windows 10.

If you haven't uninstalled yet Win10, you can run the Program Compatiility Troubleshooter and select to use Win 8 or below to test with the wizard.

The wizard will detect, download and install any missing .Net dependencies.

You can also turn of Data Execution Prevention for all programs before using the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter and see if works.
