I hate it.

The button that was formerly "fit view to page width" with a ▼ for other types of display (I always want fit width with scrolling) has become only the ▼ for display options, turning what used to be a 1-click action into a 2-click action. There's also some kind of default "when I click a bookmark" the page fit is "whole page" that I can't turn off, override, or disable. Remember my page view and assume that whatever view I have currently is the one I want after navigating.

Additionally the UI has gotten even more low contrast some how. I don't mind low contrast UIs, but things got...flat for no apparent reason. What is it with companies and redesigning their UI to be less functional every 4 years? Firefox has done it twice and as a result is losing market share. Facebook does it daily. Apple went all extra flat and super pastel and now everyone's doing it. Even Gmail got an overhaul recently. Stop, please. There was nothing wrong with it.

The close button in the upper right still does not allow a default "close only current tab" (yes, I know there's already a button that does that, but my ingrained learned behavior is that if I want to close a window I go to the upper right). This has been asked to be an option before (since like 2014) and its been disregarded that "there's already a button for that." I know there is, that's not the point. GIVE ME THE OPTION. If a dialog asks "A or B" and gives me the option to "always do A" then logically it follows that "always do B" should exist. Your users clearly want it. If someone finds it repugnant, guess what, "always ask" is the default (and always close everything is also already an option).

I also don't like that Reader upgraded itself without my knowledge or consent.

Exactly my first reaction! However, I made an effort to look closer and it might be that other toolbar buttons can do similar thing:

If you right click on toolbar, you will see a popup menu where you can hide/show toolbar buttons.

Show Page Display Tools -> Enable Scrolling

Show Page Display Tools -> Single Page View

Show Page Display Tools -> Two Page Scrolling

Show Page Display Tools -> Two Page View

Show Select & Zoom Tools -> Zoom to Page Level

Show Select & Zoom Tools -> Fit Width

Somehow, they also switch "Fit to Width Scrolling" and "Fit One Full Page". Maybe there is more specifics to it, like they might work differently with some files or in some modes. But so far it does the same for me. And two page view is surprisingly useful with these awful modern monitors with 16:9 aspect ration.

In addition, there is apparently keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl-0, Ctrl-1, Ctrl-2. They also do something related, like Ctrl-0 is full page view.

Nevertheless, just in case I will still find something uncomfortable, I found the old version installer on FTP site: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/AcrobatDC/

I had 2018.011.20063 version before, which matches 1801120063 folder on FTP.
