On version 2018.011.20058.

When attempting to use the CTRL+F to do the quick search the find dialogue box never is invoked, it acts the same when I use the find text button of the tool bar.  If I save the document and then open it back up the CTRL+F works fine.   I have found that disabling protected mode has corrected this but noticed that my document still has it enabled until after I save it locally.  Any ideas on how to enable the quick find keys?

Hi Bd,

Sorry for not being able to reply to your query on time.

As mentioned, that Ctr+F function specifically not working when file is not saved locally. But it works either when file is saved locally or protected mode is disabled. Does it happen with one specific file's find feature or any file that isn't saved locally isn't working?

There might be the document's security doesn't allow this feature to be enabled.

You may try the following to fix this issue.

1- Since you have confirmed the version is 2018.011.20058. We recommend you to install the latest patch 2019.010.20069 from release notes here: DC Release Notes — Release Notes for Acrobat DC Products

Or Open Reader>Help>Check for update.

2. Disabling protected mode isn't suggested practically, so we rather recommend to perform troubleshooting for it: Protected Mode troubleshooting | Adobe Reader

Regards,

Akanchha
