Adobe Reader freezes after starting on MacOS.

I'm trying to Adobe Reader on MacOS 12.6.6 (21G646)

After opening a file, it freezes and the only way to stop it is by either using Force Quit or, if started from the command line, use ctrl-c

I have tried different PDF files and always have the same problem. The files work fine on other computers.

This is what I get when I launch the app from the command line and open a random pdf file:

/Applications/Adobe\ Acrobat\ Reader.app/Contents/MacOS/AdobeReader
objc[911]: Class PersistentScroller is implemented in both /Applications/Adobe Acrobat Reader.app/Contents/Frameworks/Acrobat.framework/Versions/A/Acrobat (0x10cc87f30) and /Applications/Adobe Acrobat Reader.app/Contents/Frameworks/Acrobat.framework/Versions/A/Acrobat (0x10cc87f30). One of the two will be used. Which one is undefined.

I've spent the last 3 hours using google and adobe support to find a solution but I haven't found anything that helps or even points in the right direction.

Hi @Xykon,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader.

Would you mind trying the below steps:

1. Check for any available updates for Reader (go to Help-> Check for updates);

2. Check and disable any third-party plugins that might cause the application to crash ( go to Menu-> Plugins);

3. Check for any possible updates for your Mac.

If this does not help, please run the Acrobat cleaner tool https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html, reboot the computer once, and install the application using the direct link Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution.

Let us know if this helps.

-Souvik
