@Nancy OShea,

Older macOS systems won't allow to load the latest reader.

@Chia5E4A,

PDF files have not changed much in the last years, so yes, it should be possible. It is, however, advisable to load the latest version of the reader, if that is possible.

Not all systems offer all possibilities. The reader on iOS is for example limited.

That may be true but Adobe assumes their customers have the latest OS  -- no more than 2 versions back.  Only the most recent version of Acrobat has the latest technology and security updates.

LATEST

Yes @Nancy OShea , but the only reason to load the old reader is when the OS does not support the latest version.

For the use of Acrobat Reader you don't need a gmail account.

What data do you wish to retrieve, exactly? Files are not saved in the application, but either locally on your computer or on the cloud. Either way, it's not tied to the application itself.

"Files are not saved in the application" Well, yes and no. On iOS there is no shared place for apps to keep files,and apps must keep files in their own app. Very safe, very annoying. If the app is uninstalled such files are gone forever, unless backed up elsewhere. Hence, my question.
