Adobe reader plugin slow to close

New Here ,
Feb 22, 2017 Feb 22, 2017

UPDATE March 9, 2017:

Fixed! We thought we were running the latest version of Reader but we updated from 2015.023.20056 to 2015.023.20070 and this issue has gone away.

---------------------------------

UPDATE March 4, 2017:

Additional information about this issue

- This only happens when the PDF is viewed in the IE plugin. If I open the same PDF directly in Reader there is no delay on closing.

- Stepping through the code shows this delay happens when the PDF plugin is disposed as the overall browser window is disposed.

Are there any separate options or settings that can be set for the plugin ?

---------------------------------

We have an enterprise application that routinely displays a PDF file inside an embedded Internet Explorer window.

The client application opens an embedded browser window to a web page on the application server.

This web page generates the PDF as a byte array and writes it the page as the content type "application/pdf".

Displaying the PDF works great.

However, when the user then closes the window, there is a considerable delay of 15-30 seconds.

During this delay, the Adobe Reader DC icon appears on the taskbar of the computer and then disappears when the PDF finally closes.

I have tried the recommendations I could find for disabling network locations, disabling the MRU doc list, etc but nothing seems to help.

It really seems like the PDF plugin is trying to complete some sort of internet connection before it will close.

Is there anything I can do to speed up the closing of these PDFs?

I am running Acrobat Reader DC version 2015.023.20056.

Thanks!

Charlie
