adobe reader shows no reaction MacOS 10.12.5

my adobe reader stopped while I was working on my macbook. I can't exit the program it shows no reaction. I can't open new pdf files. I can't shut off my macbook theres always the message that I need to close adobe reader first because adobe stopped the process to shut down my computer.

what is wrong with this program?!

I can't delete the adobe reader from my macbook.

As the application is not responding, please try the steps provided in this help document: Troubleshoot Mac OS 10.x system errors, freezes | Adobe software

If that does not work, try to reset the preferences. Refer the steps mentioned here: How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.
