Adobe Reader v.2017.009.20044 "Save As" is not working

Seems like this most recent version has a nasty bug. It can open PDFs but if you want to SAVE AS, the pop-up window comes blank, nothing happens.  It is not a specific PDF document, as I tried different PDF documents sent or created in different locales.  All other functions seem to work, but SAVE AS is a crucial tool. I am using Windows 10.  ANY FIXES?

Hi JROZ,

Thanks for sharing the details.

You may refer to the forums thread "save as" pop up box does not allow me to save the document.  where similar issue has been addressed and resolved.

Follow the troubleshooting steps suggested in that. And let us know if that doesn't help.

Regards,

Akanchha

Hi,

Go to Help > Generate System Report. Please try to reboot the system once and check if the issue still appears. If yes, then follow the steps below.

1. Does this also happen with other applications like Send and Track, Send for Signature etc.?

2. When the blank screen appears while opening any service view or Save dialogs, go to Task Manager and check whether a process named "RdrCEF"/"AcroCEF" is running or not? Is it in a hanged state? If yes right  click on the process and create the dump file.

3. Kindly share the contents of these two locations :

For 64 bit machine go to :

    • C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\<Reader/Acrobat installation>/WebResources/Resource0
    • C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\<Reader/Acrobat installation>/AcroCEF

For 32 bit machine go to:

    • C:\ProgramFiles\<Reader/Acrobat installation>/WebResources/Resource0
    • C:\ProgramFiles\<Reader/Acrobat installation>/AcroCEF

4. In case the Rdrcef/Acrocef is crashing then please enable the Windows crash reporting WER feature. Please share the crash dumps with us. Steps to enable crash dump creation: Collecting User-Mode Dumps (Windows).
