Adobe updates stopped working, did uninstall, now cannot install!

I am running Win 8 on a six year old Lenovo I5. Adobe came installed. It stopped updating recently. I tried to download new version. Would not install. I uninstalled old version and downloaded new. No problem with download, but it will not install. Now I have no PDF function!

When I try to instalol it says "newer version installed" even though in programs there is no Adobe! I need PDF's since I am a writer and such. HELP

Adobe is a company that makes various software. Are you talking about the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, where you posted?

Download and install an older version of Adobe Reader | Windows
